Any advice and help you can give would be appreciated

Answer:
Transmission is caused by close oral, anal, or genital contact, including intercourse, masturbation, kissing, or any direct skin-to-skin contact which grants for the transfer of bodily fluids.

A person is considered contagious when prodromal symptoms, active sores, and healing lesions are present.

Herpes is potentially contagious when no symptoms are present. That is, a person who has genital herpes is potentially always shedding active virus.

Answer:
I'm a little confused here as to weather you’ve genital herpes on the mouth or down south or if you’ve oral herpes on your mouth. You’re more prone to pass cold sores when you’ve an out break of them on your mouth. You’re less apt to pass them when you don't have an out break but there is still a slight possibility of passing them when there are no signs. As long as you have no signs of cold sores feel free to kiss you children. If you’ve one wait until it's absolutely healed and gone before you kiss them. Cold sores are very contagious during an out break.
By the way cold sores are NOT genital herpes (HSV2) they’re oral herpes (HSV1). Genital herpes usually occurs on the genitals and oral herpes usually occurs on the mouth. If you only have genital herpes on the genitals you won't pass it to your kids just by kissing them. Unless some one passed genital herpes to your mouth then they could be genital herpes orally. You can get one type of herpes with out ever getting or having the other.
