So would the sings be showing now?
Answer:
I think you might have HIV and HPV mixed up.
HPV (human papilloma virus) can cause warts on the genitals and on other areas of the body. It has nothing to do with HIV or AIDS.
Tell your friend she needs to speak to someone about this. It is obviously still affecting her, so talking to a school nurse, or a doctor will help. They will keep it a secret and help her to deal with how she is feeling.
If she’s still worried about HIV/AIDs then a doctor can assess whether she needs a test. But dont panic!
Warts have nothing to do with HIV x
Answer:
Well, no, but there’s a connection actually.
Warts (including genital warts) are caused by HPV. HPV is a very common virus and many people have it and have no symptoms. Their bodies just fight if off naturally.
HIV is an entirely different virus. Just because you’ve HPV and/or gential warts, doesn't mean you’ve HIV.
However, HIV can decrease the functioning of your immune system and make it hard for your body to fight HPV. Because HPV is so common, often HIV patients will have HPV issues as well (along with a whole host of immune problems).
Still, many otherwise healthy people have genital warts. Just because someone has genital warts IN NO WAY indicates that she has HIV.
Answer:
HIV is an immunodeficiency disease, meaning it attacks a person's immune system. Genital warts are a sign of HPV (human papilloma virus), a different and relatively common STD. Your friend needs to talk to a doctor or a counselor or someone who will get her the help she needs.
