I am a diabetic and I cant heal easily I have had this outbreak on my mouth since January 12th I used my sisters Carmax for chapped lips on January 10th and two days later my mouth was covered in cold sores. I don't know what to do in order to get rid of this infection. It just wont go away I have used vasaline and chap stick to keep my mouth moist but it still wont heal. Should I try busting the cold sores?

Answer:
Get a prescription for valtrex from your doctor. Failing everything else, taking anti-viral medication for a while will help to get the virus under control. It really is worth it. I have genital herpes hsv-1 (the same virus that causes cold sores) and I take it when I feel an outbreak coming. Even if a sore patch or bump has already started, if I take a dose of that it zaps it completely. You can take tabs just when you feel an outbreak coming, or all the time to suppress the virus. Expensive but definitely worth it. It is the only thing that actually works because it works from the inside out.

Busting the cold sores will not make any difference at all, apart from getting quantities of the virus everywhere from which you might spread it somewhere else, and making your lips even more sore. It won't make it go away faster.

Answer:
blistex.

Answer:
Acyclovir…see chemist…

Answer:
Oh my! Get to a doctor quickly. Sores that dont heal are very serious for a diabetic. Cold sores (herpes) are a self limiting infection for most people. You should not be suffering for a month. Please seek professional help.

Answer:
..go…to… THE DOCTOR. God.. men and directions and women and doctors

Answer:
if it is truly cold sores caused by herpes simplex…..go see your doctor. He can give you a perscription for Valtrex, you only have to take 2 pills and then 2 more approx 12 hours later and they will go away quick.

There are also topical cremes available through perscription to help.

I don't know how any of these treatments work with diabetics or any other medication you are taking, so definately go to your doctor.

Answer:
Dip a Q tip into HYDROGEN PEROXIDE and dob it on the cold sores at least twice a day. It should heal them quickly and it kills the pain.

Vaseline and chap stick do not have any healing properties to them, they just keep your lips soft.

Do not break them open then you will just have ugly open sores on your lips. And they could become infected, being a diabetic you do not want that.

Answer:
Try using blistex, the one in the tube, some people find it stings but it always worked better for me than any of the waxy feeling products. Don't use anyone else's cold sore remedy as you might inadvertently transfer their outbreak. Don't bust the sores. Try to avoid anything that might irritate your lips like cigarette smoke or extreme weather exposure.

Hun, here is a site you should check out. I don't want to say use something and since you are a diabetic, (like myself) we have to take serious precautions on things we use or do. Now all cold sores are Herpes (not the sexual) ones, cold sore sometimes accour and go away within a couple weeks or days, but since you are diabetic that does change some. Now according to this site, you can get a special cream from your local doctor. (If they are bad) which by what you are describing they are. Now DO NOT BUST the sores, If you do what will happen is your sore WILL SPREAD more and more… I hope this helps so, like I stated I believe you need to call your docotor and get the cream you need and look over this site.. go at htt://health.yahoo.com/skinconditions-ov…

I hope this helps you out, oh and by the way vasaline and chap stick actually dries out your lips more than anything just to let you know, if you are going to use something your better off using somelike "beez wax" that is one (healther) and second doesnt dry out your lips ONLY WHEN YOUR LIPS ARE HEALED (kinda of pricey though) but the better products are always pricey. Stop putting stuff on it (which could be another reason why it is taking forever to heal, unless it is given to you by your doctor.

Answer:
No, don't bust them. Leave them alone. There are other ways of treating this infection. A doctor can prescribe Valtrex to you which should help. Also, you can go to a store and get something that especially made for this, like Herpicin..which actually helps treat the cold sore. Your cold sores are a type of Herpes…..Herpes Simplex 1 to be exact. Make sure you don't kiss or have oral sex with anyone if you have active sores….or you'll tranmit the virus to someone else.
