I have been in a relationship for about 3 months now and just recently in about the last 3 weeks we’ve had sex a few times without a condom. I trusted him that he’d been tested recently and I get tested after each sexual partner so I’m clean. But anyways his ex came to him within the last week and stated she had herpes and he should get tested so I made sure he did and did not have sex with him not even protected after learning that. So he has herpes!!! I am really freaking out and have already made an appointment to get tested in 2 days. I am so scared I'm usually very careful and generally never have unprotected sex. He has had no outbreaks and he didn't show any signs of the herpes. What’s the likely hood that I have contracted the disease? I can't seem to find a clear cut answer on the web I just have a lot of questions and I am to ashamed to speak to my family about it so please give me all the advice you can and even email if you would like I am so scared.

Answer:
Ok if he tested positive that means most likely he was infected at least 2 months ago mabye longer. It takes from a month to 6 months to diagnosed herpes of any type to register on the blood test.

The symptoms u have to look out for are a high temp, swollen lymph nodes, headache, body aches ect…

I didnt show any signs either. I had a bump down below but that was it with my period. I had no idea what it was.

I was the one that emailed u. So please if u have any questions please feel free to ask.

Another thing do u know what type did he have? Was it type 1 or 2?

Answer:
Most likely you got it. Herpes there is no sign no matter how long he had it..some people do get a sign but most of the time there is none. So its more than likley to have it. you can email me if you want to know more.
