I've been fighting with a friend, I said you CAN get aids from your mom at birth if she has it, he says you CAN'T please tell me who is right and wrong? please explain also.

Answer:
Yes it is possible to contract HIV/AIDS through being born to a mom who is HIV/AIDS positive. It isn’t guaranteed however that a mother who is positive will definitely transmit it to the baby. The mother and child have their own separate blood supplies while in utero and if some sort of cross contamination would occur such as the moms blood coming into contact with a wound on the baby then it could happen.

Answer:
No, not always. Most babies born to women infected with HIV won’t themselves be infected. About one baby in six born to an infected mom will have the virus. Visit this website(http://familydoctor.org/online/famdocen/… for more information. Hope this helps. Good Luck!!!!

Answer:
yeah you can it happens because the baby and the mom share the same blood and since aids is in the blood thats how you can get it from your mom

Answer:
yes you can, its from the same blood. same with any other STDs, if the mother is infected when the baby is coming out of the womb, most likely the baby will contract that STD, its very sad ):

Answer:
The baby can get AIDS if the mom isn’t taking the correct medication to prevent it.

Answer:
You're right. Your mother can pass any STDs or HIV/AIDs to her baby at birth.
