I went to my physician a couple of days ago because I was sick and he told me that I needed to get a physical exam soon because I haven't had one in a while. I am a 21 year old male and wanted to know what he’ll be checking for during the exam? Do I’ve to undress totally or can I keep some clothes on? Also should I have a rectal exam done as part of the physical exam as well?

Answer:
The physician will have blood work done on you, along with various probings of your body. It is likely you’ll undergo a hernia exam (turn your head and cough while he checks the perineum). At age 21, it is unlikely you’ll have a prostate exam, so no rectal. You’ll be undressed for part of the exam.

Glad to help. Report Abuse

Answer:
You wont be naked but he’ll probably check your balls for lumps. Take a urine sample. maybe a few other samples.
Unlikely they will do any recal “probing “.

Just think of it as a MOT and enjoy the fact that you will know you are healthy ( or not ) and of anything is found it can then be treated before it gets worse.

Answer:
your 21 y r u still worried about getting naked??ha.
but penis under your balls then cough.
maybe blood test.
check your weight.
look in your ears/mouth.
look straight while they flash your eyes wiht the flash light.
stetoscope and breath deep..

thats about it.lol

Answer:
At 21 you should be mature enough not to worry about such things.

Answer:
i take it you havent played any sports in school before. Well when i get one im told by my dr when the time comes to drop my pants and normally rectal exams arent done until men reach the age of 30-40. Each physician is different, the nurse might have you get undressed to your underwear with a gown over, or just complety nude with a gown. But again, each doctors office is different
