His room is filthy and his loo grotesque. How do I politely tell him he smells disgusting? It's been like a year and I haven't been able to tell him. Thanks
Answer:
After a year, forget about being polite! Just tell him straight out!
If he doesn't take care of it, (and he probably wont, even if he dose at first, he'll back slide), consider kicking him out or you moving out, depending upon your situation.

Terry (below) actually has a good idea! Have your friends over several times and ask them to mention how it stinks or ask your roomie, “Dude… WTF stinks in this home!?” Some times embarrassment can be a great motivator!
Answer:
Thanks for the B/A, Terry should get a “shout out” as well.
I think it is the fact that you’re polite is why your roomie doesn't take you seriously! You need to be more forcefull and let him know that there will be consequences for his actions, or more correctly… lack of action. Report Abuse
Answer:
Perhaps it's your cat making everything smell horrible.
I had a friend who had a cat that stank up the whole place.
But, if he's so dirty and disgusting, one of you should move, whoever's place it is, the other should consider moving out.
If you can't tell him, then you're accepting the situation, and until you actually sit down and tell him, you have to live with it.
Answer:
I had a roomate like that the first yr of college. he was a nice guy but had a severe foot problem. It was very hard on his estreem. No amount of washing took care of it. He would have to put his shoes on the window ledge and store his old socks in plastic bags that were treated as biohazardous waste.
I’ve no clue what happened to him, but in his situation it was biochemical. In your situation, it would be easier…like dude. clean up or find new living arrangements.
Answer:
You most likely smell the same if you are living there. Invite other people over. If you don't have balls, somebody else is bound to have them.
Answer:
Be firm but kind and direct is the only way. Or move or or begin smelling like him.
